i ran the jotti scan of that one file Sorrows_Furnac_Mini-Pak.exe and the scanner results all found nothing but the status box said:
MIGHT BE INFECTED/MALWARE (Sandbox emulation took a long time and/or runtime packers were found, this is suspicious. Normally programs aren't packed and don't force the sandbox into lengthy emulation. Do realize no scanner issued any warning, the file can very well be harmless. Caution is advised however.)
so i discussed it with my son and he said it was actually an unpacker for that Guild Wars music expansion pack and he deleted the file. the game expansion still works.
i did the first steps to secure the system: clear & reset system restore's cache, disable the viewing of system files, and securing internet explorer. work has been bad this week so i have not accomplished much at home. this weekend i will go through the rest of the security recommendations and see what i already have and what i need to download. i am also going to set up a plan or schedule so that things get done on a regular basis.
