Thanks bobbing & twajetmech for your advise.

Look like a BIOS issue that is causing some of the problems. I've flashed the bios to the latest Ver F11, downloaded from GigaByte site.

Now, no more "CMOS checksum error" and it does not freeze in the CMOS setup screen and on my XP.

The only issue left is the on-board sound. Playing music is ok but vocal was scratchy. Strange!

Will disable the on-board sound and put back the Creative 24-bit Live! card. Will see if I'm still facing the sound stop after ~2min.
