motherboard issues

Hi I am very computer illiterate but my original comp started with the ntldr missing file routine and i dont know how to figure out how to get the stuff off my hard drive before i have to put in another windows operating system. So I am on a crappy temporary comp at home. Needless to say I spend more time at the library having to use theirsthen I do at home. So I figured seeings as I basically have all the parts to get a decent one up and running I would give it a shot. But as I start this venture I have found that I dont have a clue what motherboard I have to deal with so I cant even download any drivers for it to work in another comp....All I know is that it says pheonix bios d686 bios does this have anything to do with the make of the motherboard or am I just missing what I need to find? And if we can figure this out does anyone recommend a good site to download these drivers from?
