I have had a simular problem!

This is going to sound crazy but it worked for me. When this happened to me I stuck 2 sheets of paper in the case and stuck a pencil thru for the mount holes and installed the board and it powered up. If you have some of those red paper washers you could try gluing them on top of the mount holes and then put the board in. Just a thought.

There is no way it is an X-connect issue they kick BUTT!
