Asus p4c800 e deluxe running very slow after adding new hard disks on intel chipset

hi their i just installed 2 x 300 seagate hard discs on sata1 & sata 2 on the intel chipset,
the problem is now the whole computer is really slow @ booting up and closing down it was working fine for 1 day, then just went really slow on me after i restarted next day. I tried everything, drivers, disabling all dvdroms, fans, its starting to bug me, my other computer duron 1.8 256ddr ram 40gig 32 graphics card is far quicker @ booting up and closing down.

system specs

p4 3.2 ghz
1gig of ram dual channel
550 watt power supply
2x 300 seagates no raid windows xp sp2 all updates on 1 300gig
1 samsung dvdrom on IDE 1 master
1 pioneer 108 dvd writer on IDE 2 master
nothing on the promise controller and disabled in bios
all com ports and printer ports disabled in bios
lan on and sound on in bios & usb's
all options set to auto in bios

before i got the 2 new hard discs i was running 1x 120gig maxtor on the promise IDE channel and never had one problem with it i since removed 120 maxtor and decided to install xp on sata as this is meant to be faster

i have the latest bios 1021
installed intel chipset drivers
this is just a fresh install of xp sp2 also with very little programs on pc

any ideas what could be causing this?
