Just an update from me. Amazon have informed me that it is indeed a wider problem than just the two printers I have received and as they need to make further enquiries with Canon they cannot send another replacement as it would more than likely have the same problem as its from the same batch of stock so they have refunded me Both Amazon and Canon have been very friendly about the whole situation and although it is a pain that I have to return another printer and will now be printerless for the time being at least I know that I havent just been REALLY unlucky
So for anyone thinking of buying a ip5000 it might be worth waiting just a little while.
