HTTP 403 (Forbidden) Microsoft IE

I have just finished a successful thread, removing a very annoying websearch engine which hijacked my home PC, however in the process I appear to have created another problem in that I now cannot access a number of links within sites. In particular on a secure site I can't access further screens after I enter my user details. The window requesting entry of details keeps reappearing and a message saying "details entered do not match our records, yet I am certain I entered the correct details, lower case, no spaces, etc.
I also use as my thread title "HTTP 403 (Forbidden) Microsoft IE" as this is the screen I get on the Microsoft site when I am trying to download files, etc.The message on the main screen reads "You are not authorized to view this web page"

Your help towards resolving this problem will be appreciated.

Regards
