I have a computer from a friend.

Basically what happenes is everytime u got to the start menu it freezes, tried Task Manager and removing everything which also caused the system to freeze. My friend reloaded over the top and it still happens, i've tried different RAM still did it, took the HD out and scanned it for viruses on another pc nothing found, removed the CD-ROM Drive becuase at one stage it looked to be the problem but still no go, i've removed all non essential preipherals and still it freezes on that start menu.
its a late p3 with onboard everything and 256mb sd ram, only thing i can think of doing is a Move/Reload on the drive and trying that, does anyone know any other fix for this problem?
