Hi Omega,
Make sure these previous instructions are still in effect:
Go to
My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that
'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that
'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the
'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that
Search system folders,
Search hidden files and folders, and
Search subfolders are checked.
Reboot your system in Safe Mode (By repeatedly tapping the F8 key until the menu appears).
Go to Start->Run and type in
services.msc and hit OK.
Then look for
Service: Symantec Network Drivers Service (SNDSrvc)
Double click on it. Click on the Stop button and under Startup type, choose Disabled.
Run a scan in HijackThis. Check the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking it) if they still exists:
O23 - Service: Symantec Network Drivers Service (SNDSrvc) - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SNDSrvc.exe
Delete the following Files indicated in
RED and Folders indicated in
BLUE if they still exist.
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\
SNDSrvc.exe (Just the file this time--if there is nothing else in the folder, you can delete the Symantec Shared folder)
Reboot into Normal Mode and run a new HijackThis Scan and post it here.
It is very important that you get all of the critical updates for your Operating System and Internet Explorer. I notice your XP and your browser are not up to date and this makes you susceptible to attacks by Trojans and viruses.
Please go to
Microsoft and download all the critical updates to help prevent possible re-infection.
