[SOLVED] windows xp does not boot
I used Diskeeper to increase the size of the pagefile. Diskeeper advised to do that because the file was used at 99%.
To materialize the change you have to restart the computer. During the restart the famous blue screen came on. Final part of the text was referring to an IRQ setting.
After that the pc did startup, but after the POST it was dead. Cannot even startup from de Windows installation CD.
During start up pressed F12 to get to the boot menu. Starting from the CD drive does not properly work: after a while it asks to press any key to startup. But whatever key is pressed, it soes not startup.
Same F12 procedure and using the utilities partition learns:
IDE disk Confidence test fails: error code 0F00:0242
Msg: Block 71126721: address not found (and this also for many succeeding blocks)
IDE disk Read test fails, error code 0F00:1A42, similar message
IDE disk Verify test fails, error code 0F00:1342, similar message
Same procdeure F12 using IDE device diagnostics gives a return code 7 for the primary IDE drive.
What do I need to do to get access to Windows?
