I did both before I ever posted. It isn't as straight forward as you say. I don't know the things you do, I couldn't decipher which ones to pick on eithert site.

I just ran Everest and to further dilineate, it is a Intel i815E chipset. I haven't learned how to use it or the information yet but I didn't see anything to indicate any hardware was defective, which is what I have begun to suspect as the other possibility.
I'll look again but I have downloaded drivers from both sites and they either did nothing or the one pair gave me black screen.
