Question Dell Resource CD?

Ok...so, little back ground here.

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 running Windows XP. Recently (past 2 days) I uninstalled iTunes 8 (which was an immediate regret..i hated it) and tried to install the previous version I had. Of course, it didn't work. It would start the install then suddenly jump to the end of it saying it had installed (when it hadn't). I tried several versions and none have installed to any avail (except a much much older version which is of no use with the iPod Touch).

Anyways, I have completely uninstalled iTunes (kept Quicktime) and since then, the Windows Installer will pop up then ask for the Dell Resource CD. Why? To my knowledge I didn't uninstall anything that would cause that to happen. Of course, I don't have the Dell Resource CD and Dell wants $15 bucks and up to 2 weeks to get it to me. Call me spoiled, but I'm not dealing with that little annoyance for 2 weeks. Can anyone give me an idea of why this is happening? It does give me an error code which I dont have at hand, if it does it again I'll post it.

I have also run virus scan, root kit scan, spyware/adware scan, registry cleaner, and defragmentor thinking maybe something was just glitching. But it still pops up, usually when I click on Firefox or Explorer (also when I start my PC).

Thanks for your time.
