I bought a used machine. 1400/256/100/1.5
815 chipset family, mem comtroller 82815EG, I/O Controller 82801BA(ICH2)
The HD blew up after I left it on and unused all day. So I got another drive and put it on the machine. The seller would't give me a copy of the software unless I paid another 60bucks for them to load it, so I loaded win98 to format it. After I did so the machine seems to be missing drivers for the mother board. I now have win2k on it with the same issue. The OS when I purchased was win2kpro.
I can only get 16 colors on display

, I cannot get it to detect the modem even with modem specific software disc

, when I IPconfig I get all zeros

.
In case it matters even with the chipset numbers the Intel chip on the board that I can read is FW82801BA, the processor is Celeron 1400 SL64V, RK80530RY017256 (BX80530F1400256)
I've messaged Vinnie4 who seems to have had the same driver issue and solved it. I too cannot distinguish which drivers to load as there seems to be a list of identifying numbers on Intel's site for the 815 chipset that I do not have. I did load one set and it black screened me after restart. I had to run Dban and reloaded win2k OS this morning.
I posted all this in case I am missing something else that the symptoms I posted might indicate.
I am online with a different computer. If I could get online with it i'd just have the Intel site scan it.
I need to make this thing run right as I have to give it away in trade for work that was already done.
Thanks
