I did try swapping the SATA ports as well as SATA and power cables with the existing working drives. Each time, the port that the new drive was connected to would show up as "None" during the IDE detection process, while the other ports showed up just fine.

Thanks for the SP3 and nLite tip. I'll also check my BIOS version with CPU-Z.

I can't say I feel the drive spinning/clicking. It might just be DOA, especially if others with my board are successfully using 1TB drives.
