Re: Tv Tuner Help

What you need is a TV tuner. elgato's EyeTV is software that controls a TV tuner. THey also see two very excellent tuners, the Hybrid and 250 plus. Just for watching TV, the Hybrid is great. I have one and it does very well on my Macbook. You plug it into a USB2 port, attach an antenna to it, and launch the software. But you do need a faster Mac to use it, as it requires the CPU to decode the TV stream. The 250 plus on the other hand has hardware to do the decoding, as well as encoding to record the TV without using the Mac's CPU. It is also the one to get if you ever plan on connecting a game console like the Xbox or Play Station to your Mac. I also own the older 250 (the non-plus version, so no HDTV) and it works great. There are other devices that you can buy, but I have never used them, nor am I likely to ever, as I have never had any issues with elgato's products, and I feel they are well priced, so I'll just stay with them.
