Toshiba Satellite = Blank Screen at Bootup

So my girlfriend owns this Satellite P105-S997 laptop from Toshiba; a piece of worldly junk. However, she needs it for school and the occasional video game. She dropped by before work and asked me to fix it for her, if I could. So, I take it upstairs and begin browsing forums across the globe for perhaps some answer to my love's plight.

Well, nothing.

I attempted the usual "Remove battery, hold down power button, put battery back in, and voila!" - that didn't work for me, unfortunately. I tried removing a stick of RAM in case that was bad, but nothing.

I also tried plugging it into an external monitor, and got some curious results.

Both CRT monitors I plugged it into displayed the boot screen, but it had lines running down the screen - funky dotted orange lines. Once it got passed the Windows XP startup screen, nothing. Black screen, yet again. Interestingly enough, it doesn't like it when I plug in HD Monitors.

Ideas?
