moving hard drive from one computer to another
I've reformatted & setup drives before..but i've never set one up on one computer, then removed the drive to a 2nd computer hoping it will work.
Should it work?
I'm asking because I've done this, but the drive is not booting up in the new (2nd) computer. I can't figure out why it's not working...I can see that the drive is detected in the bios (the only thing that might be unusual is that it comes up as the secondary master- primary master & primary slave are both going to Cd roms..).
It goes through the initial memory check, then it displays a bunch of info like pci devices & their irq number...but it hangs there with a cursor blinking (no error messages). At one point, i did get a message saying ECSD update successful..not %100 what that means).
Any ideas? Shouldn't i be able to set it up on one computer then transfer it to another? The hard drive is an IDE drive...the computer i used to set it up is an HP business computer (P4 2.1 Ghz)..the 2nd comp is a generic built computer (P3 933Mhz).
Any help appreciated. Thanks.
