Once the drive is bricked, it can't be upgraded without a trip back to Seagate, or at least to a Pro Recovery shop, takes special hardware to be able to restore the disk to an operational status so it can be flashed. Did you check the serial? SD15 is the vesion with issues, but not all drives are subject to the bug, has to do with production/testing methods used on certain production lines during a specific time.
