What is the model number of the drive. If it is in the 7200.11 family check on Seagate's site, they have a tool to check the drive serial number and see if it is affected by a known firmware bug. If it is listed as possibly affected then call Seagate support. If it is not 7200.11 or not affected, then connect it directly to the ports of the second PC ( not using USB ) and see if BIOS recognizes the drive correctly.
