Hey all, i really hope you can help, i'm tearing my hair out here!!
OK from the top; I only got my Xbox 360 two days ago so i'm a noob really!
Through an Ethernet cable I have my HP Touchsmart IQ771.uk running Windows 7 RC x86 connected to a BT HomeHub 2.0 router with firmware version 8.1.H.G (Type A) . I have my Xbox 360 connected to the router via an Ethernet cable also.
I ran through the extender setup fine, the network tuning tool also yielded the best results.
I start WMC on the Xbox and attempt to connect to WMC on the HP. I have an external HDD used to store movies and is included in the W7 WMC library. The media then begins to be added and 2-3 minutes later it cuts out with this message;
"Connection Failed
The Xbox 360 cannot connect to the Media Center based PC. Make sure the Media Center based PC is turned on and connected to the network. If you continue to see this error, check Media Center Extender Help on your Media Center based PC."
I relaunch WMC on the 360 and in nearly exactly the same time as the last it gives a different error screen;
"Connection Failed
The Xbox 360 was disconnected from the WMC. Make sure that the PC is running and try and reconnect.
Would you like to reconnect?"
And so it goes on, the two error messages change randomly and are displayed on the 360.
Troubleshooting steps i've made.
1. Disconnected external HDD
2. Deleting WMC certificate, uninstalling the device, removing my HP from the 360 and repeating setup wizard.
3. Stopping all 3rd party W7 WMC software running.
4. Ending explorer.exe process tree.
5. Switching my router firewall off leaving only W7 Firewall.
6. Switching my W7 Firewall off leaving only router firewall.
7. Switching both firewalls off.
8. Disabled UAC
9. Attempted to connect the 360 straight to the PC
10. Installed in Vista (same errors)
I'm just checking the Event Viewer now, i'll update the post if i find something relevant.
If anyone can help i'd love you forever
Regards
