IE6 Issue Please Help!!

Hi

I have recently had an issue appear on a few XP Pro laptops while accessing the corporate Intranet.

Problem:

All machines have the local intranet address as the default page and are using IE6, the address is as follows "http://intranet". Now on certain machines (laptops) when the users open the browser for the intranet site they are redirected to "www.aciworldwide.com" instead.

I have found that if I delete the users profile from their machine and then have the users login again so the profile is recreated, the problem goes, well for a while atleast!

I have also established that if I type the address "http://www.intranet.com" in the browser I'm directed to the site "www.aciworldwide.com", so I believe this issue is linked to IE 6 assuming that "http://intranet" is in fact "http://www.intranet.com".

How can I stop this happening?
Where are the setting to disable this function?
Or any other ideas would be extremely welcome?

Please help

Many thanks

Mark
