Are you saying your leaving this machine on for extended periods of time? Check the cards temps and make sure you have decent case cooling. Not just one 80mm fan bout a could 120mm's would be good.
The corsair 550 is also not enough wattage for the card , but I wouldn't say that's the immediate cause. It's should still be changed to the 650 model in the near future.
