Re: Linux as an alternative OS
I use Ubuntu on my Linux workstation, mainly just for programming for web development and moving into software engineering for college, which I start my degree in, this September. I find Linux to be very stable and provides many of the software alternatives to leading MS office products and even programming software. I love the Bluefish editor for web programming. I also have Adobe Fireworks CS3 installed via the WINE application to run Windows based software on your linux system. All works pretty nice. Ubuntu is a great start, but so is Fedora and SUSE.
