Hi, cmos is normally part of the motherboard, not the hard drive. What would we would need to know is more about the computer. If it is a custome made computer, what motherboard and other parts wer used, if it was a store bought computer we woud just need the make and model of the computer.

Also how did you reformate the hard drive, did you use the win 98 cd and go to try to reinstalle windows 98 or did you do it from comand prompt, etc.

As far as the password, I'm not sure how far we can go with that part here, it is against forum policy to show or tell anyone how to get around passwords. Sorry, it is one of those things that certain people may take advantage of and use negativly.
