My OS on the stationary is Windows Vista SP 1, and the OS in the laptop is Windows XP SP 2.
I use af WPA2 encryption (TKIP). For a long time I had it unprotected, but changed this, as the network disappeared, and I already had to set up the router because of a restart.
On the stationary computer, which has the problem, I use an antivirus program called F-Secure combined with the windows-integrated "Windows Defender" with all the features enabled. F-secure is also a program blocking spam and spyware, and it works as an internet-shield.
I also have the windows vista firewall turned on.
On the laptop I use AVG Antivirus Free edition, with the windows XP firewall turned on. The laptop, however, finds the wireless signal just fine.
Today I discovered that one of the guys living in the building, has the exact same wireless router as me, because I could connect to it, because it was unprotected. (It had the exact same firmware etc.)
This worked fine with the stationary computer. So it does work with the router - one question answared.
Could the problem be, that my stationary computer is only about 1,5 metres from the wireless router? Could this be the reason why it can't find the signal, because it needs a longer distance?
