Lot's of people experience the STOP 0x124 error. It's a hardware error that can also be related to compatibility (and, IMO, to drivers). The difference here is that this error isn't reported by Windows, but rather by another piece of hardware (most likely the CPU) - so reading the dump files usually isn't very helpful to most people. (BTW - the minidump isn't attached to your post).

The error points to your video driver. A search of the ATI website shows that they haven't released a Win7 driver for the X1300 (but have for other cards). This leads me to suspect that: 1) this card won't be supported by Win7, and 2) that there's likely to be compatibility issues with Win7.

I cannot locate your motherboard on the MSI website. Please provide a link for it so we may research the board.

In the meantime, boot into the XP installation and run this free tool: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...e-advisor.aspx
Let us know what the report says and we'll move on from there.
