Can I have two wireless modems in one area?

Okay, I have a big question. (Hold on to your hats. This may get confusing. :()

I just got internet the other day. The Guy came in and installed the modem. But the modem also has a built-in wireless router in it. He hooked it all up, its all working fine.

I got it so I could go on Wifi with the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS Lite. The Wii works fine online, but the DS doesn't. I did some research, the DS only supports WEP encrypted and unencrypted networks (and IEEE 802.11b). The router that came built in doesn't have that. So I bought a Linksys G Wireless Router because on the side of the box it says:

Standards: IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3u, IEEE 802.11g, and IEEE 802.11b.

So, my first question is, will the Linksys router work with the DS, second, can I hook up the Linksys router into the modem/wireless router and have them both on at the same time?

(I am new when it comes to this kind of stuff. Please don't get too technical in your explanations please. :))
