O/S-Windows XP Home Edition, Service Pack 2
NIC- Realtek 8139/810x Family Fast
Router-Linksys WRT54G
Wireless works, I'm trying to get the wired connection to work
Do not know what DSL equipment she has at this time.
Browser- IE
No A/V-the computer was just recently formatted.

Now i have a dumb question. i have never had DSL, and dont know much about connection issues. Here's my dumb question. IF i have a computer that uses DSL to connect to the Internet, and i take it over to my buddy's house, who has a cable connection through a router, will i be able to connect a catv cable directly from his router to my ethernet port and have an automatic connection to the Internet, with no settings issues? I ask this as i dont know if DSL sets some registry keys that need some alteration in order for things to work smoothly on a cable connection.
