Power cords

This is a very simple question that I could use some more professional help on. It actually has to deal with the surge protector, not the power cord from the power supply.

I have a surge protector which I plug everything in. I don't need an extreme strip, but I do seem to need a strip that has a longer cord. The cord is 6' long, but it's about 3-4 inches too short to be in a good place. I don't have the option to rearrange where my computer desk is because my apartment is very small.

Is it safe to plug the surge protector cord into an extension cord to get it to the wall? I imagine no. Do they make extension cords for this purpose?

Any help would be awesome. Thanks.
