I recently downloaded Adobe After Effects, and need some help...

I spent several hours watching some tutorials on videocopilot.net, before realizing a lot of cool stuff he teaches you actually have to buy...

Some of the things I wanted to do were:
-Lightsaber (Which for some reason didnt work)
-Remove soul
-Making a flash after a gun shoots...

Can I get the muzzle flash elsewhere? I also have Sony Vegas 9 platinum to do this stuff if it is possible there too...
