Sorry, i reread it again and i guess i might have been confused. are you trying to setup a static IP address to 169. what ever, or are trying to get it back to DHCP. if you are trying to get the connection back to DHCP have you tried right clicking the connection and changing the TCP/IP properties back to DHCP? If you are setup with a static IP address renewing it will only get back your static IP address.
