Question Antenna Cable Help

I have an IBM T43 THINKPAD it has a Compact Wireless-G USB Network Adapter
Service Name WUSB54GCv3. I am running WINXP PRO.

However, the wifi range is really limited where I live. I would like to build a bi-quad antenna but there is no connection to my wifi card other than my USB connection. I am not knowledgeable enough to be taking my laptop apart and soldering anything.

I would like to run CAT5 from the antenna to a USB cable as this is about a 300 ft or so run. Is this possible? Will this work? If not, what would you recommend? I really don’t want to damage my laptop. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
