Yes, it was powered down.

And yes i can also feel the drives spin up.

I have also tried them on at a time.

I also forgot to mention that when i unplug the replug the device (when the computer is powered down, and then power it back up.

I get the "Found New Hardware" pop up in windows xp and then it tells me that the HDD has been sucessfully installed.

Update: Unplugged the 500GB HDD so that I can working on the 250GB one only, as it is the one with the most precious data in it.

Update: Downloaded the Western Digital Data LifeGuard Diagnostic for Windows, and my hard drive passed its tests. But still cannot access it via My Computer
