Cry Changed IP --> Cannot access internet

I changed my IP by using a program. After that, I had no internet connection, but it said I was connected to my linksys router. This is on a laptop.

THINGS I HAVE TRIED:

1) ipconfig /release
SHOWS: The requested operation requires elevation
2)ipconfig /renew
SHOWS: The support for the specified socket type does not exist in this address family. No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection while it has its media disconnected.
3)ipconfig
SHOWS(roughly -- lots of stuff to type from laptop to this computer):

Connection-specific DNS Suffix : --
Link-local IPv6 Address : fe80::f836 blah blah blah
Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address: 169.254.159.255
Subnet Mask : 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway : --

Media State : Media disconnected
Connection-specific DNS Suffix : hosts.bc1.bresnan.net

...so on and soforth about media being disconnected.

Alright, so I am very confused about all of this. My ip address isn't even an ip address for one thing. I can write more, but this should be enough to start. I would REALLY appreciate the help. Oh yeah, just to let you know, I have tried reseting the router and also unplugging it.
