Suprised Loud mandrels

One of my mandrels on my 2003 Cadet 38" rider starting whining last time I cut grass. Pulled the deck and took it to a reliable repair shop I've used before and he recommended to replace both shaft bearings, which I had him do. Today was the first time cutting due to all the dry weather we've had here. Now notice that both of them are REALLY making a racket. Took a look, nothing loose, including the blades, no wobble anywhere. Is there a way to test the units w/out removing them? Any suggestions sincerely appreciated.
