Re: Ubuntu laptop Touchpad problems

The issue here is that the touchpad doesn't work apart from the buttons in 9.04 whereas in older versions the touchpad does function.

I am wondering what I need to install.

I went into various internet searches to try and identify the missing drivers but it seems that I found nothing. From within the Windows OS I only see a non-existent Microsoft PS/2 Mouse in the Device Manager and no Touchpad device mentioned anywhere. That gave me the idea that it's a "Virtual Mouse" ie a device that is made to look like something else.

Since it was recognised in 8.04 what am I missing in 9.04 that would make it work?

The laptop is a Twinhead 12D badged as a Philips Freevent X50 (F12DT) but it's also seen as a Averatec AV3715.

I am having issues re-installing XP Home since the old harddrive was corrupted and parts of the Recovery Partition lost. I thought a good workaround might be Ubuntu since it will only be used for web surfing and little else however I have come across these minor problems when trying out the latest Ubuntu Live CD's.
