Re: Firefox wont open, but shows in processes list!?

Hi -

Firefox is what I see as being a power-hungry application [1], I know this sounds strange seeing as how it is a very small program, but I've gotten it's CPU up to around 70,000 before. Which is quite a bit for just a browser.

I suggest you try running it in Safe Mode [2]. This will determine if it's drivers, or some other disabled objects in Safe Mode - since, Safe Mode accesses windows interface without loading any unnecessary drivers or software.

Another helpful thing to remember would be to include all plugins and addons, since those are a major, major, MAJOR, reason for not booting up correctly, and corrupting of your Firefox. So, if you would be so kind as to please try and remember all addons, that would be much appreciated [3].

[1]:

A "power-hungry application" is basically a application (program, console-program, GUI, etc) that uses massive amounts of CPU or in more than one way bogs down your PC. This isn't likely for Firefox, but I'm just throwing my personal experiences out there for the learning of others!

[2]:

How do I run XP in Safe Mode? Try referring to this guide, as it even informs me of some stuff I was unfamiliar with. Guide here, good luck.

Basically, you're going to have to redirect to this location (assuming you can search your computer, and you're familiar with it fairly well):

First thing you're going to have to know is if you can view hidden folders or not, so please go to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tuto...torial130.html and check. Now, go here:

" C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\qm7rpv55.default\extensions\ "

You should see some weird numbers and letters combines to show you multiple folders, some of mine are as follows:

" {AE37D527-6604-461c-8102-975CF8053A2F} "
" {d10d0bf8-f5b5-c8b4-a8b2-2b9879e08c5d} "

Now, open one at a time and navigate to:

" \chrome "

You should the plugins name, followed by it's extension, which will be ".jar". List all of your plugins.
