Exclamation Computer died and cannot turn back on... possible psu problem?

So I was online watching an interview of a drummer that I like, when I hear this sound (kind of like the sound you hear when turning on a powerstrip... like a "dunt" sound. sorry its hard to describe) and my computer turns off. I cant turn it back on either. I opened it up and looked inside and i didnt notice anything being hot to the touch so i dont think its a heat related issue... and I checked the powerstrip, its still working. I know that its not getting any power because when i flip the switch in the back(which doesnt turn it on, it just gives it power) I notice that the little green light isnt lighting up on the motherboard. The only thing i can think of is that the psu went bad. But im not sure why... its only a couple of years old.

Any ideas or suggestions?
any help is appreciated.
thanks
