I would recommend that you have a look at
Linux install guide. This should help you with installing ubuntu.
When you get to the point of choosing how much of the hdd you want. This is when you need to choose between install only on the space left on your hdd or choosing to install on the entire hdd. But if you need help with it just post back and we can help you with it.
