Lite-On produces drives for most of the major manufacturers.
I've used and sold over 200 of them in the last few years and have had a minimum failure rate. Lite-On's customer service is not good but when DVDRW's are less than $25 I just replace them at my cost for good customer relations.
I went to LG a few months back for PC's that do large data burns (i.e. movies) because they are excellent writers.
The Optiarcs are rebranded NEC.
