Most of the media players also have an auto detect feature you can turn on. all you need to do is look in the menu tabs for either in file or library depending on which version you're using ( i have wmp 11 ) and you can manually add the music to the player and it shud by all means keep track of any new music added on any of the drives you have on your system.
If not, try re installing it, some other program might have corrupted its databases.
