Memory stick pro duo

I just bought a memory card for my camera today after weeks of transferring my pics via usb cable. On the side of my laptop there is a sd card slot, and above it it says 'SD-MS/Pro-MMC-XD'. I assumed this meant that my new Memory stick pro duo would pop right in, but it doesn't actually click in. it just goes in really far and wiggles a lot. This seems odd to me since the only difference between the memory stick and a regular sd card is it's slightly narrower, and a little slimmer, yet it goes in almost a half inch further into the slot. Am I just retarded and putting it in wrong or do I have to get a usb device to read it with?
