Wordpress CSS - IE6 layout problem

Hi,

I'm new to Wordpress and CSS, but I'm fairly well versed in HTML/XHTML and starting to get the hang of it...

I've spent some time building a website with WP, however having tested it on lots of different browsers you won't be surprised to hear i've run in to issues with IE6 and CSS.

IE6 doesn't fill either side of the footer image with the background colour (black) like other browsers do, it fills it in white.

I wouldn't know where to start with a fix/hack for this, if anyone can help I'd be very grateful. Image attached, area in question outlined in red.
