Failed Installation of XP from 2k

Yesterday i started the setup for XP on my computer. It seemed to work fine then when it restarted itself and continued the setup i got a error message...

SXS.DLL Dyntax Error in Manifest or Policy File "D.\1386\52\MSFT\Windows\NET\DXMRTP.MAN" on line 7.

Error
Installation Failed: D:\1385\ASMS. Error Message: Incorrect Function

So i let the computer attempt to fix itself and it restarted. It came back to the same part of the setup...It gave me the same message.

So my mother called her computer guy that gave her the XP CD. He said to go into BIOs and change the Boot to the CDROM so it would boot off the CD. which really didnt make since to me. So i did it anyways, changed 1st Boot Method to CDROM, saved, restarted. Same **** happens, it gets the error and restarts.

any help would be AWESOME!

Much love
