Well I somewhat figured out how to make it work.

I went ahead and used a mask instead of chroma keying so that I would not rely on the green screen. It is drawn with anchor points to pull off the same effect that the chroma key has. The main challenge lied with a moving subject. I somewhat used automation to create multiple mask depending on where the subject was in relation to the timeline.

It worked out OK. Now I know for next time, lighting is everything.
