Ubuntu Auto-Connect after Disconnect

I am running jaunty jackalope desktop version, and am fairly new to linux. The computer running Ubuntu is running as a file server connected to a router (Obviously). The problem is, whenever the router is rebooted or has an error, my Ubuntu Server becomes disconnected and then never reconnects forcing me to have to tell the Ubuntu computer to reconnect. Since no one else here knows how to use linux, nor would I trust them to log on to this computer, the only way to have them reconnect the server to the network is to hold the power button down until it shuts off, and then start it back up so it will autoconnect which is not advisable. Is there any way to have it set up to reconnect after it is disconnected? Thanks.
