What are the sites? if they're small-scale then it's likely they're being overused and just can't serve you the pages quickly enough.

It's usually just a website problem, the fact that you can connect to google, etc. shows that it's not your network. And there's not anything you can do to fix it, you can e-mail the sites' admin and see if there's anything they can do but that's not really a whole lot that they'll do (that wont cost them a lot of money).
