wireless connection to printer not hardwired to modem

I have a wireless router set up to cable modem in our upstairs unit, with a large printer/commercial color copier on the ground floor with no direct access to any hard wiring options (without drilling through the floor/walls).

The printer has a USB port, as well as ethernet. In our old place we hard-wired the printer to the router, which of course works fine. Can't do that now. Can I connect a USB transeiver of some kind directly to the printer and have it accessible wirelessly? If I'm understanding wireless print servers it sounds like they have to be wired to a network source. No can do here.

I appreciate whatever assistance you may have to offer.
