most engins i have installed ,i have rerun the flywheel/flexplate. not even a crate motor comes with a new one .. but not uncommon for them to crack/ break if the car has been driven hard in the past. cracks sometimes look like grease that has been slung out from the crankshaft. and unless its looked for ,it can some times be overlooked. if it was a used moter that was installed it may have come with a flexplate. and in all used parts , u get what u pay for . good luck
