Locking C drive Win 98

Hey Everyone,

I’m attempting to delete Primary Dos partition so I can create a new one thru F-Disk. System says "could not change partition because the disk could not be locked". Next, went into the dos prompt and typed in, <Lock C:> System says, "Lock operation failed." Back to dos and typed in, <chkdsk/r> System says, "Instead of chkdsk try Scandisk; it can perform...blah, blah, blah. So, I am running it now. Finished a thorough scandisk – no errors but I still don't know how to "Lock C drive"! It’s frustrating because apparently I need to do so based on what the screen message is saying. If anyone has some idea of how to get that drive locked so we can move on toward completion of getting these partitions taken care of here, any and all replies welcome...just need to get this figured out...thx.
